By submitting material to OnlineNews.ie, contributors grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, edit, reproduce and distribute that material in connection with our editorial activities.
Copyright remains with the original creator unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Copyright Infringement Claims
If you believe that material published on OnlineNews.ie infringes your copyright, please notify us as soon as possible.
Your notice should include:
- Your full name and contact details;
- A description of the copyrighted work;
- The web address (URL) of the material concerned;
- An explanation of why you believe the material infringes your copyright;
- Evidence that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on behalf of the owner;
- A statement that the information provided is accurate and made in good faith.
Incomplete notices may delay our review.
5. Our Takedown Procedure
Upon receiving a valid copyright complaint, we will:
- Acknowledge receipt of the complaint where appropriate.
- Review the information provided.
- Investigate the claim.
- Contact the contributor where necessary.
- Remove, disable access to or amend the material where appropriate.
- Notify the complainant of the outcome where possible.
Our aim is to respond to legitimate copyright complaints as promptly as reasonably practicable.
6. Counter-Notification
If material has been removed following a copyright complaint and the contributor believes the removal was made in error, they may submit a counter-notification explaining:
- Why they believe they have the legal right to use the material;
- Any supporting documentation or licences.
We will review the counter-notification before making a final decision.
7. Repeat Infringement
OnlineNews.ie reserves the right to refuse publication of material from contributors who repeatedly submit content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights.
8. Good Faith
We ask that copyright complaints are submitted honestly and in good faith.
Knowingly making false or misleading copyright claims may result in the complaint being rejected.
