At OnlineNews.ie, accuracy is one of our core editorial values. We are committed to publishing reliable, well-sourced journalism and to correcting any errors promptly and transparently when they occur.
Our Commitment
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that the information we publish is accurate, fair and up to date. Despite these efforts, mistakes can occasionally occur.
When an error is identified, we will review it promptly and take appropriate action.

Please include:
- A link (URL) to the article;
- A description of the error;
- The correct information, where available;
- Any supporting evidence or sources.
Providing as much detail as possible will help us investigate your concern efficiently.
Our Review Process
Every correction request is reviewed by the Editor or an authorised member of the editorial team.
Where appropriate, we may:
- Verify the information using reliable sources;
- Contact relevant parties for clarification;
- Update the article;
- Add an editorial note explaining a significant correction; or
- Decline the request where the published information is accurate and supported by evidence.
Types of Corrections
Minor Corrections
Minor errors such as spelling mistakes, grammar, formatting or typographical errors that do not affect the meaning of an article may be corrected without a formal correction notice.
Significant Corrections
Errors that affect the facts, context or understanding of a story will be corrected as soon as reasonably possible. Where appropriate, we will include an Editor’s Note indicating that the article has been updated and describing the nature of the correction.
Clarifications
Where information is technically accurate but may be unclear or misleading, we may revise the wording or add additional context to improve clarity.
Updates
News stories often develop after publication. Articles may be updated to include new information or developments. Such updates are part of normal news reporting and do not necessarily indicate that the original article contained an error.
Retractions
In exceptional circumstances, where an article is found to contain serious inaccuracies, legal issues or other significant problems that cannot be corrected, we may remove or retract the article.
Where appropriate, a notice explaining the reason for the retraction will be published.
Reader Feedback
We welcome constructive feedback from our readers and encourage anyone who believes an error has been made to contact us.
Every genuine correction request is considered carefully and fairly.
Editorial Responsibility
The Editor has ultimate responsibility for decisions relating to corrections, clarifications and retractions published on OnlineNews.ie.
