Onlinenews.ie has recorded more than 762,000 page views between January and the end of October 2026, according to its AWStats website statistics, marking a significant milestone for an independent news website operated by a single journalist.
Traffic grew considerably throughout the year, with July proving to be the strongest month for visitor numbers. A total of 2,902 unique visitors and 3,239 visits were recorded during that month.
October saw strong activity recorded almost 99,000 page views and the highest monthly bandwidth usage of the year so far, at 15.73 GB.
What makes this achievement particularly special is that Onlinenews.ie is entirely self-funded, non-profit and operated by a single independent journalist, with no advertising revenue or backing from a large media organisation. Its continued existence and growth are made possible through personal commitment and, most importantly, the support and interest of its readers.
The figures also demonstrate the clear appetite for independent journalism and the type of content published on Onlinenews.ie. At a time when much of the mainstream media, (mostly foreign owned) can appear to be repeating each others narratives and covering stories from similar perspectives. There is obviously something refreshing about a viewpoint not afraid to look beyond the established headlines.
A sincere thank you to everyone who has supported the website and helped make this progress possible.
Looking forward to building on this progress and continuing to bring readers news, stories and coverage in the months ahead.
Thanks you
Sean Treacy – Independent Journalist
